A funny rather bitter experience with Air

Two years back we boarded Air India to travel to Singapore. We took with us our less than 2 months old baby brother. So we needed a baby cot. We were told that we need to be well ahead for boarding otherwise we might not get the baby cot. We also took the help of our friend's friend working in Air India to arrange for the seat that has the baby cot. We hurried up and made sure we were well ahead in time to get the boarding pass made doubly sure that we are given the seat with the baby cot.

We were so relieved that everything went on fine. We entered the flight and occupied the seat but found that the wall that supposed to have the baby cot fixed is empty. We thought may be they will fix it after the take off. The flight took off smoothly. But where is the baby cot?

My Mom called the Air hostess and asked for it. She smiled and said, "Oh baby cot, wait, I'll bring in a minute".

After few minutes she brought a long and broad basket like stuff, and asked us to lift our legs.

Lifting Legs??? She kept the basket beneath our legs.

My mother asked her "do I have to fix it in the wall"?

Wall? No no, you have to keep it down and leave the baby in.

What!!! Mom was perplexed.

How do you expect me to leave the baby beneath the legs?

Mom, what if I put my legs on the baby when I sleep?

It won't happen my boy. She gave a smile again.

Also it would be difficult to move out if we want to.

No, Mam. You'll have to adjust. We can't fix it on the wall. This flight is very old. There is a possibility that it might fall.

Is this the baby cot you offer to all babies travelling in this flight.

of course, yes.

We were sitting there with confused feelings.

Finally I had my legs and my backpack inside the so called baby cot and my baby brother had a comfortable place in my Mom's lap.

May be that's what every parent travelling with a baby in flight doing.

Sub: Request to reduce the weight of our School Bag.
Sir,

I am Sivaraman Suresh studying in 9th standard in a Matriculation School in Chennai. I hear a lot these days about having single board exams. I do not know if that will do good or bad to me. But what I understand is the weight of my backpack is bad to my back. I climb up and down 3 floors every day as my class is there. My bag normally weighs about 6 - 7 kg + my lunch bag in which I carry lunch, snacks and water bottles. Other than this I hvae to carry this bag walking, until I reach the Govt. bus stop. In the Govt. bus I have to stand holding the Iron rod on the top having my bag on my back balancing in the crowd. Then again I have to walk to my school from the stop I get down. I am lucky as the distance for me is less than my friends. We have been carrying like this for so many years now.

Why can't the topics we learn be reduced? We choose our groups for profession only after 10th standard. Why do we study many subjects in lower classes? And why we are put on examination on every subject we learn? Some subjects could be for learning alone for ex, Moral

Branches of science( Physics, Chemistry, Botony, Zoology) could be combined to one subject having topics that relates to all the branches of science. For ex, Structure atom taught is physics show its relationship with chemical combination in chemistry and its plant cell in Botony and animal cell in Zoology. Another ex could be Leaning about DNA. By introducing this, I beleive we'll learn less topics but more complete understanding of what we learn. Less topics, less books, less weight.

நாங்கள் ஒரு முறை ஒரு சாலை மறியல் போராட்டத்தினால் மிகுந்த சிரமத்திற்கு உள்ளானோம். காவலர்கள் எங்களுக்கு எந்த விதத்திலும் உதவவில்லை.

31/12/2008 அன்று மாலை 5 மணி அளவில் திருச்சியில் இருந்து சென்னை வரும் வழியில், திண்டிவனம் அருகே போக்குவரத்து தடை பட்டது. 7 கிஂமீ நீளத்திற்கு சாலை எங்கும் வாகனங்கள்.

By Pass Road ஆதலால் கடைகள் எதுவும் இல்லை. எனது 1 1/2 வயது தம்பி பசியில் அழ ஆரம்பித்து விட்டான். மற்ற வாகனங்களில் குழந்தைகள் வயதானவர்கள் என்று எல்லோரும் அவதிக்குள்ளானார்கள்.

நாங்கள் உதவி கேட்டு கைபேசியில் 100 எண் மூலம் காவல் துறையை அணுகினோம்.
மதுரை control room என்றும் local code மூலம் திண்டிவனம் காவல் நிலையத்தை அணுகுங்கள் என்று கூறினார் காவலர்.

code no. தாருங்கள் என்றால் தெரியாது என்றார் காவலர். நீங்கள் தகவல் அனுப்புங்கள் என்றால் தனக்கு அதிகாரம் இல்லை என்று கூறி தொடர்பை துண்டித்து விட்டார் அவர்.


நாங்கள் திரும்பத் திரும்ப தொடர்பு கொண்டு உதவி கேட்ட போது அவர் அலட்சியமாக, நீங்கள் இது பற்றி பத்திரிகைக்கு எழுங்கள் என்று சிரித்துக் கொண்டே கூறினார்.


எனது தந்தை 1 கி. மி நடந்து சென்று தகவல் சேகரித்து வந்தார். சாலையை கடந்து சென்ற கிராம வாசி யாரோ விபத்தில் சிக்கி விட்டதாகவும், இது போல் முன்பும் நடந்ததால் கிராம வாசிகள் பாலம் கட்ட அரசாங்கத்தை பல முறை கேட்டும் எந்த பயனும் இல்லாததால் சாலை மறியல் செய்வதாகவும் தெரிந்து கொண்டோம்.

காவல் துறை நமது நண்பன் என்றால், ஒரு காவல் நிலையத்தில் இருந்து இன்னொரு நிலையத்துக்கு தகவல் தரக் கூட முடியாதா என்ன? அல்லது .code no. கூட அவர்களுக்குத் தெரியாதா?


தகவல் தொழில் நுட்பம் எவ்வளவோ முன்னேறி இருக்கிறது. ஆனால் மதுரை காவல் நிலையத்தில் இருந்து திண்டிவனம் காவல் நிலையத்துக்கு தகவல் தர அதிகாரம் இல்லையா அல்லது ஒரு காவல் நிலையத்துக்கும் இன்னொரு காவல் நிலையத்துக்கும் தொடர்பே இல்லையா ?
